Alpha Wire Plenum Cable is Above the Rest

Plenum cable is an important feature to have in a building, enclosed space or method of transportation for humans.  In order to keep the workspace and those around it safe, the proper cabling must be installed within the plenum space.  The space between the structural floor and the dropped ceiling or under a raised floor is considered plenum.  Let’s go more in depth about plenum cable and its properties.

Plenum cable is jacketed with a fire-retardant plastic jacket of either a low-smoke polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or a fluorinated ethylene polymer (FEP).  Since plenum spaces, such as an HVAC circulation area, allow fire and smoke to travel quickly, the low smoke feature and the flame retardant jacket material protects us humans from breathing in large amounts of toxic fumes if something was to go wrong in a plenum environment compared to when using regular PVC cables.

Alpha Essentials Plenum cable is available in 150V and 300V constructions with multiple shielding and gauge options, and jacket and insulation options such as FEP, PPVC, and PVDF.  If you have any questions regarding whether or not you need plenum cable for your next application, please contact your local sales rep or request a sample today!
